A flat marker, simple, green slate.  Only recently were we obliged to carve the death date . . . Ms. Porter was 103!  In addition to upper-and-lower case numerals, we also are partial to the European system of dating, with the month separating the two uses of numerals.  Frankly, commas are a bit of a drag to carve, visually. BACK   NEXT
