DOUGLAS COFFIN

Douglas Coffin has been hand-carving fine, inscriptional letters and decorative motifs in stone since 1988. About two-thirds of his work is personal headstones, or memorials. One-third is architectural donor walls, building inscriptions and plaques.

Douglas's background in calligraphy, typography and graphic design was useful in making the shift to lettering in stone. In addition to carving, Douglas also demonstrates, teaches and explores the history of the alphabet and letterforms.

SIGRID COFFIN

Sigrid Coffin has been working professionally as a lettercutter since 2011. Her background in painting, drawing and music complements Douglas's approach. She continues to be fascinated by letterforms and enjoys organizing words and images to make them beautiful in stone.
